The demand for the mobile communication has increased rapidly now, and is expected to increase further more. Moreover, technology development which provides new service and deals with data communication and multimedia communication has been under intense research. Mobile Communication system has become gigantic and more complex in order to deal with increasing demand and advanced communication technology application. On the other hand, when designing such a huge and complex system, effective usage of the frequency resources and reduction of cost are required. Therefore, it is necessary to solve a lot of optimization problems which accompany the design of mobile communication systems. However, many of these optimization problems are completely NP (uncontrollable). Moreover, for the traffic needed in the system design, although its time change, spatial distribution and model of mobile terminal mobility are required, these practical models have not been obtained yet. It is also difficult to evaluate the system performance in strict theory. Therefore, it is necessary to design a system in a manner of cut and try by using approximate models, approximate design approaches and simulation techniques. Our society aims at the construction of the automated design system for mobile communication systems mentioned above. We are convinced that the advancement of automated design and optimization technology will contributes to the effective usage of frequency resources and more advanced mobile communication service.
